Privacy policy
Information you give us
The quote form asks for your ZIP code, what you want quotes for, whether you own the home, your electric utility, your average monthly electric bill, your roof's material, shade and age, the street address of the home, your name, phone number and email, and your consent to be contacted. While you type the address, it is sent to the U.S. Census Bureau geocoder and to Photon (OpenStreetMap data) to suggest matching addresses and place the map pin. The solar calculator sends the ZIP and bill you enter to our server to compute the estimate; the quote checker runs in your browser.
Information collected automatically
Our server records standard request data: IP address, browser, pages visited and time. To suggest your ZIP code in the forms, we look up the approximate location of your IP address in the DB-IP Lite database (IP Geolocation by DB-IP, CC BY 4.0); the location is not stored. On the quote form, ActiveProspect's TrustedForm records how the form was filled in and the consent text you agreed to, so that the request and your consent can be verified; see ActiveProspect's privacy policy. We use Google Analytics, which sets cookies (such as _ga) to measure visits and quote requests; see how Google uses this data.
How we use and share it
- To send your quote request to partner solar installers or a lead referral network that serves your area, and the installers in its network, who may contact you by phone, text or email as described in the consent you give on the form.
- To run and secure the site, and to meet legal obligations.
Your choices
You can withdraw consent to be contacted and ask us to access or delete your information by writing to hello@solarhank.com. Installers who already received your request handle their own records: to stop their calls or texts, tell them directly (reply STOP to a text) or write to us and we will pass your request on.
Retention
Server logs are deleted after 14 days. If you leave the quote form after entering your email, the answers you gave up to that point are kept for 30 days so you can finish the request. Quote requests are kept until you ask us to delete them.
Children
The site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13.
